In short

How do BCRI clinical research internships work?

BCRI offers clinical research internships of 3 to 6 months at research sites, CROs and hospitals, mostly in Bangalore. They come with every BCRI diploma and with the Advanced Certification in CRA, CRC & CDM. Most interns work as CRC interns or data trainees. The host decides any stipend and gives the certificate. For online students the internship is optional, if they can move to the internship city.

Programmes that include an internship

Short certification courses (CDM, pharmacovigilance, CRA, Clinical SAS, medical coding, regulatory affairs) do not include an internship. Looking for drug safety experience? See our pharmacovigilance internship.

On the job

What you do in a clinical research internship

Tasks depend on the host. Most recent BCRI internships are Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) roles at research sites; some are clinical data roles.

  • Site coordination

Help run trials at a site: patient screening, consent forms, visit plans and site files, with a senior CRC.

  • Clinical data work

Enter and check trial data, raise and track queries, and keep CRFs complete.

  • Trial paperwork

Keep key trial files and logs up to date, ready for monitoring visits.

  • Safety reporting

Learn how adverse events are recorded and escalated at a site.

The host organisation — the SMO, CRO or hospital where you intern — awards the internship certificate.

Where are the internships?

Mostly in Bangalore and other South Indian cities.

Can online students do the internship?

Yes, if they can move to the internship city. For online students the internship is optional.
