A good online clinical data management course teaches the full CDM process — CRF design, study set-up, edit checks, data review, queries, coding, reconciliation and database lock — with hands-on practice in an EDC system and the rules behind it, such as CDISC standards and 21 CFR Part 11. BCRI’s 2-month live online CDM course includes practice on the Clinevo EDC system, class times arranged for US time zones and recordings for 3 months. In the US, clinical data coordinators average about $63,000 and clinical data managers about $85,000 a year (Payscale, 2026).

Key takeaways

  • Choose a live class with hands-on EDC practice, not just videos.
  • It should cover CDISC (CDASH/SDTM) and 21 CFR Part 11 — the rules US employers expect.
  • US pay: clinical data coordinators ≈ $63k, clinical data managers ≈ $85k (Payscale, 2026).
  • BCRI’s course: 2 months, Clinevo EDC practice, US-friendly timings, pay in USD.
  • US jobs need US work authorisation; BCRI does not promise jobs abroad.

What is clinical data management?

Clinical data management (CDM) turns the data collected from trial patients into a clean, locked database ready for analysis. In the US, the FDA requires CDISC-standard data for drug submissions of studies that started after 17 December 2016, and electronic records must meet 21 CFR Part 11. • Standards and rules — CDISC CDASH/SDTM, 21 CFR Part 11, ICH-GCP
